academically. School uniforms are assigned dress attire designated by the
school system. Over the years there have both positive and negatives over this
to be accepted more into public schools.

Amelia Jimenez, a junior high student, found a way to make a unique look to her uniform. She wrote in an op-ed that the uniforms did not silence the voices of students (NCES2015). Students are able to wear different buttons, jewelry, and styles. Some students would paint their nails for additional colors or incorporate flashy scarves and ties. An excerpt from Teen Vogue said “there are tons of ways to amp up your standard issue getup.”
The incorporation of school uniforms in poor communities show increase in very little areas. In one area during the 2013 school year, “47% of a high-poverty public school required school uniforms, only 6% of low-poverty public schools required them, according to the National Center for Education Statistics” (NCES2015). Other students that were in a higher economic climax are able to afford more uniforms every year. While the remaining students could only afford one uniform due to the costs. Students would be able to judge others based on the tears and stains on the uniforms.
Research Summary
Uniforms are seen as both beneficial and a hindrance to public school systems. In some cases, students are able to over with their bland appearances with colorful outlets. Students added more elaborate jewelry or buttons to their outfits. Although a hardship was that some students could not afford more than one uniform annually. Children developed differences due to the factor of less economic availabilities.
