- Viewpoint: This discussion is about how schools are depicted. They are seen as successful places where students learn the basics to succeed in life. As society changes so does the curriculum and research conducted to better the school system in the future.
- According to research cited in the paper, what was the most important variable mentioned for school success?
- Describe why you think this might be the case?
Establishing a welcoming school climate leads to a successful outcome for the students. In this type of environment staff and students feel safe and learn to flourish around each other. These interactions with positive affirmations continue to build a good climate in the classroom and provide improvements in class work, class room etiquette, and respect for each other. The mental developmental process seems to be enhanced in a positive environment which helps the learning process to be better. Although, without a pliable safe work atmosphere, students will feel unprotected. This may lead to more behavioral problems and lower academic outcomes.
- Describe how some schools celebrate their academic success?
Many schools celebrate their own academic successes in by providing the individual with honor role, pictures in the hallway of the schools front office, certificates, trophies, and community gift certificates. Different incentives are initiated to produce continued academic success according to the occasion. Usually, at the end of the semester and or year, there are “Academic Awards Days.” Students are given awards for achievements that are based on their grades, productivity, or any other measurable academic successes. For example, a student who has the highest overall average will be given a monetary gift, a trophy and a ribbon. The person who has overcome adversity is acknowledged with a special trophy, a certificate, and a trip to the local amusement park. Some other awards for student achievement include a student’s picture in the local new paper, with a personalized column, written to acknowledge these achievements.
- Should there be a National curriculum for all students? Why or why not?
- List and describe some challenges for school success
- What was the purpose for this research study (Elementary School Research)? Describe.
- Summary
In my personal opinion, conducting this research is a wonderful study to see how to improve our Georgia school systems. These insights presented from different areas with some predictions can benefit future students. Different schools can share their success stories and what helped those progresses. Now there will be less dropouts, more academic progress, and better climate educations. Also there can be improvements within the system such as budget and or curriculum.

- Describe the results of your research
Every semester, students have common fears that can only be faced day to day. Questions like, “Did I pass that test? When is the project due? How did that affect my grade?” are always rampant through their minds. Although when students know they are safe at school, this is one less things to worry about. National School Climate Center states that safety in schools is very fundamentally important for students.(2015) Their physical and emotional upbringing can be reflected positively in this type of environment.
According to the National school climate center, class is like a family. Positive climates in schools are another way to change and help with the need for academic success. This helps student learning as well as improves teacher practices in the classroom. School systems that present these positive relationships between teachers and students gain connectedness. Growing up, on a personal level, having a positive teacher is what all students deserve. Good teachers help students to become overflowing with confidence for to improve and create a better future in life.
Many students tend to perform better when they are actively motivated by others student success. Teachers help their students to be engaged and respected as they succeed in education Springer (2011). Supporting students in this type of environment leads to less likely disciplinary problems reduces violence, less drugs influence, and or lower dropout rates. At this age it is hard to self-motivate with so much peer pressures. Students’ actions can be transformed by those who see how good they will become in the future with a little push towards their inevitable goals. If there are more teachers that continuously support students, there will be more positive outcomes.
