Trust is a characteristic that has to be earned. Initially, a person may decide to give a coworker the benefit of the doubt and extend to them some level of trust as another human. Once trust is violated, it should not be an automatic occurrence. Investments are imperative to increasing financially, but personal investments are also made on a daily basis. The decision to make an attempt at building positive relationships is not a one-time choice. A person has to consider the environment, in which they have relationships with other people and how to maintain boundaries that will not include too much personal information. Students have the opportunity to build positive relationships with teacher when they show and interest in learning and respect the teacher as the leader in the classroom. Students may since that a teacher does care about them as an individual, but simply asking questions and showing interest may change the attitude of the teacher. A student has the ability to learn with or without the support of the teacher’s personal investment. It seems unethical that a teacher would not care about the success of the student, but reading the text book, studying, listening to the lectures and taking note will produce a positive outcome, if the student decides to be invested in the learning process.

The state has requirements for becoming a teacher; it requires a 4 year college degree, student teaching, and a teaching certificate. The teacher is required to understand childhood development. The ability to build trusting relationship depends on a child’s age and their state of mental development. Trust, honesty, integrity and morality are the basis for positive relationships.
Students who learn to trust are more optimistic according to Schwabsky (2014). As a student it seems that teachers that encouraged me were the classes that I was able to achieve the highest grades. Trust is one of the most important parts of any relationship. But for children, leaving their parents and being in a classroom with an unknown adult all-day requires developing a level of trust. A child deserves to be in a classroom where they are treated with dignity and respect. They also need the trust the person who is leading the class. It seems that some school system has some difficulty providing a positive, save learning environment. Maybe this will change in the near future.
A teachers’ commitment to student learning provides them with empowerment according to Shawabsky (2014). Building relationships requires showing interest in the individual person’s ability and motivating them to do the best that they can do. Being trust worthy is not a listed requirement in the job description but the ethical person does have the characteristics of being honest and trust worthy. It is important to understand what the motives are in any relationship. Each relationship may begin because someone wants something from the other person. In actuality trusting someone takes time. It is important that a teacher allows the student trust them when they are ready and not try to force them to do something they do not want to do.
As a college student it seems difficult for me to meet people that I believe that I can trust. In my family, it is important for me to continue to have a positive relationship with my mother, my father and my sister. I realize that I have been fortunate to be raised in a small town where the teachers knew my family and I trusted them to help me when I needed help. My family encouraged me to be the best academically and in extra curricula activates. Motivation and encouraged are important factors in achieving success. Incentives are a great way to propel others into moving in the right direction. Sometimes redirection is required and patient is necessary.
