The constructivist theory is the concept that students learn by their own understanding then experience them and reflect upon the outcome Slavin (2003).The reason is that the older ways are ever evolving like the students being taught. This makes students become more “active learners” in the classrooms that make them more like their own teachers. Lessons will be geared to subjects that students will use forces them to expand on their own. Actual teachers, intern, are more like shadows in class only to give lectures and that’s all. So technically
Another theory of learning is cognitive apprenticeship. The concept is to gradually have a student learn from an expert on a given subject, according to Slavin (2003). Just like shadowing someone in a job setting, this exact model will help with students’ prospering form a professional field worker. It is believed that this type of example is longer lasting and will engage further with activities daily. Personally, this theory would help students that already know what they want to major in a college environment, while in either middle or high school levels.
Lastly there is another of many theories is being discovery learning. The basis is for students to personally discover their own ways of learning a subject, states Slavin (2003). They are given the tools, like books, pamphlets, or paper excerpts, and then find the information needed. Intentionally, the students will not be “spoon fed” a subject, but forces them to look for themselves. Many teachers, whom I have had personally, have used this tactic in their classes and has helped students with research assignments.
