According to Herr (2004), the number of children attending schools is growing and the need for qualified teachers is also growing. In my opinion, education is an important part of the lives of children. Each state has requirements for children to attend school. It was difficult for me to begin schools because I had to leave my family. It seems that some mothers have difficulty allowing their small children be left in the care of a stranger. According to the video, teachers have the responsibility of building positive relationships with students. Some teachers and students do not get along well, but since the teacher is the adult, it is there responsibility to create some level of commonality.
A positive relationship begins with respect for each other. A teacher and student may be able to respect each other by understanding the boundaries of the relationship, which is adult to child. How youth learn, student voices “the fires series” discusses how teachers show students how we should act and how we should behave in the world. According to the video, students learn to trust teachers and to talk about things that are more than school related situations, when they develop positive relationships with the teacher. They continue to state that teachers can make students feel comfortable in the classroom. When a teacher is building positive relationships with the students, they feel confident that if they put in the effort then the teacher will help them to be successful according to the video about student teacher relationships.
